Replica Fossil Buying Guide

Cast replicas are not real fossils but they are made from cast molds of real fossils so in appearance they are identical. Museums commonly use cast replicas in displays - sometimes because there just aren't enough of the real fossils for all the museums and sometimes to preserve the safety of the original.

Velociraptor Skull cast replica
An amazing cast replica made from a real velicoraptor skull. My kids were even able to find the original specimen in one of their books. The link here is to the velociraptor page (there are a number of products available) - scroll down a bit to find the skull. We used this in a fossil identification activity. This now sits proudly in our living room.

On a side note, I can't speak highly enough of Taylor Made Fossils. Great to work with and provide amazing replicas. Well worth the price.

TYRANNOSAURUS REX T-Rex Dinosaur TOOTH CAST (REPLICA- Not a real Fossil) 53 6o
This is a cast replica of a T-Rex tooth. Measuring about 4 inches. We used it in a fossil identification activity. With the T-Rex still enjoying peak popularity among the young ones, being able to hold a T-Rex tooth, even though it is a replica, is pretty gratifying.

ALLOSAURUS Dinosaur Claw Cast (Replica - Not real Fossil) 199 8o
A cast replica of a claw from an Allosaurus toe. Next to the T-Rex, the Allosaurus holds a dear spot in the hearts of children. This is an impressive specimen that will make them appreciate the scale of the animal. Used in a fossil identification activity.

Replica (Cast) DEINONYCHUS Dinosaur Claw - Not Real Fossil
This case replica of a deinonychus claw will make the kids appreciate how powerful the raptors were. The claw is sharp - no not like a knife, no one will cut themselves - and you can really see how effective it must of been on prey.
